Sample preparation is the first step of laboratory measurements. The environmental sample is transformed into analytical sample, which contains the components to be measured. The aim of the process is i. concentration (eventually dilution) to obtain a sample with concentration in the linearity range of the applied analytical method, ii. purification (to get rid of the components of the matrix), iii. solvent exchange iv. enhancement of the sensitivity e.g. by derivatization.
