Contamination of Mekong river

Contaminated Mekong

Author:
Gruiz Katalin

Mekong river and the Mekong-Delta is one of the most contaminated waters of the Earth.

It is loaded by untreated industrial waste waters, runoffs from agricultural and urban surfaces. The river is used by individual households for solid and communal waste diposal and direct use for washing, cleaning, etc.  Fish-ponds and aquacultures also highly contribute to chemical and microbiological contamination and may cause serious hygenic problems.

The attached film calls the note on the possible contamination of fish originating from Mekong-fisheries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1nEPzsFpc0&feature=player_embedded#
