Habitats:  This family is spread all over the world, especially in hills, forests and plains. They have underground lifestyle. Campodea redii lives in wet ground, fallen trees and stones. They are extremely photosensitive. They are widespread kind so we can find them in Hungary too.

 

Morphology: They have special campodeid figure. Generally they are 2-5 mm length, but some kind can reach 50 mm length. On the round head, they have a pair flexible antenna which they can scan. Campodea redii hasn’t eyes. Their mouthpiece biting isn’t has a contant with their head. With this atrophied mouthpiece they can eat just solid food and succulent plant and animal nutrition.Everyone has a throax, six leg, abdomen and and a pair of tailpiece. They can use these, of detection. They have ventral bags which are very important in their life.

 

Nutrition:  They eat with the mouthpiece, just organic food, plant and animal nutrition. They haven’t Malphigian vessels.

 

Respiration: It happens through the tracheas, skin and ventral bags. Blood inflate the ventral bags in the wet air so bags are bulge.

 

Reproduction: They reproduction with external fertilization. Males put off  200 piece of spermboxes a week and they hope for its surviving. Females pick up these and she leave their eggs in a hole. Little ones is not go through on metamorphosis.

 

Function in the ecosystem: Save wastes and they have an important role in circulation.
