ASCE Geo InstituteA GeoCongress az Amerikai Építőmérnöki Kamara (ASCE) Geotechnológiai Intézetének évente megrendezett nemzetközi konferenciája.

A konferencia a geotechológia és a talajtan területén született legfrissebb tudományos eredményekbe, a korszerű mérnöki gyakorlatba és az alkalmazásuk során szerzett tapasztalatokba enged betekintést a téma szakemberei számára.

A Koferencia 2012-ben március 25 és 29 között került megrendezésre a kaliforniai Oakland Marriot Konferenciaközpontban, több ezer résztvevővel, több, mint 50 szekcióval, 200 poszterrel és 100 kiállítóval.

A Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetem, Alkalmazott Biotechnológia és Élelmiszertudományi tanszékének, Környezeti Mikrobiológia és Biotechnológia csoportja két előadással képviselte magát a konferencián:

Special issue of "Land Contamination & Reclamation"  (Land Contamination & Reclamation, 17 (3-4) 2009, EPP Publications Ltd.) edited by Gruiz, Katalin and Meggyes, Tamás came out at the beginning of 2010 with the title: "Innovative decision-support tools for risk-based environmental management".  It is based on the developments of the Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology research group of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

30 Hungarian and 15 European researchers summarizes in the double issue on 420 pages, in 8 chapters, in 42 articles the new results of the research and development of new engineering tools necessary for risk based and sustainable environmental management and decision making.

The published innovative engineering tools were developed in the following research and development projects:

1. MOKKA: Innovative Engineering Tools for  Risk Based Environmnetal Management

2. EURODEMO: European Coordination Action for Demonstration of Efficient Soil and Groundwater Remedation.

3. DIFPOLMINE: Diffuse Pollution of Mining Origin

4. BÁNYAREM: Risk Reduction of Diffuse Pollution of Mining Origin

5. LOKKOCK: Soil testing methods for site specific risk assessment

ConSoil is Europe´s largest conference on management of soil, groundwater and sediment. Organizers are the UFZ (Germany) and Deltares (The Netherlands).

The 11th International UFZ- Deltares/TNO Conference on Management of Soil, Groundwater and Sediment (ConSoil 2010) took place in Salzburg Congress, Austria, September 21-24.

This conference brought together parties from all aspects of the environmental cleanup community to exchange ideas and experiences on the management of soil, groundwater, and sediment.

Themes for the conference included: restoration, new functions of the subsurface; sustainable management of land use and the subsurface; and management of contamination at regional scale.

The Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology group of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Department of Applied Environmental Biotechnology and Food Science, Hungary participated at ConSoil by giving one oral presentation (Speaker: Katalin Gruiz) about utilisation of waste on soil and presenting in the poster session. 7 posters.
